Connemara National Park

Once a barren ecological desert, now a thriving ecosystem host to expansive temperate rainforests, myriad native species and thousands of kilometres of spectacular hiking trails

Connemara National Park represents the pinnacle of Irelands ambition to create space for nature and humans to thrive together. By working closely with farmers, and supporting them for the long run, monoculture sheep farming has been transitioned to a more sustainable and inclusive land use, allowing for a return of Ireland’s Atlantic Temperate Rainforest, and with it a thriving ecosystem of native plants and animals, many of which are found only in the park.
